I have turned off the Windows firewall as suggested by Zone Lab. My O.S is XP w/SP_2. Every time I boot up I get this red colored dialogue box that says my computer is not being protected because the Zone alarm firewall is not working. Yet the ZA software says all systems are working and the number of attempts at intrusion keep increasing all the time from day to day. What's wrong here?. I tried uninstalling ZA and re-installing it. I did the same with the Norton AV and the problem still exists. I need help pls.
Why does Norton Antivirus (2006) keep telling me that my Zone Alarm firewall is not protecting my computer?download
Well first off ignore Mary O and lucee's "solutions" as this is just brushing the problem under the carpet rather than dealing with it. By an extension of that logic - turn off your computer and don't use it again, and the dialogue box won't ever appear again.
Presumably you have bought and paid for Norton and if so don't really want to get rid of it, even if the alternative (AVG) is free. And I would also guess that the Norton package you have does NOT include a firewall, else you wouldn't have installed ZA.
My initial suggestion would be that everything is actually working just FINE. Of course Norton knows that ZA is a firewall AmandaKerik! What Norton may be doing is telling you in a round-about way that your version of ZA is OUT-OF-DATE. This is because a new version of ZA was very recently released (version 7).
