Is AVG a decent antivirus?

The techs at the place where I got my computer tell me it is much better than Norton or Symantec, even though it is free.

Yes - reliable, fast, doesn't slow your machine as much as others, easier to remove etc etc

A review in a recent mag named avg and kapersky as the best

Is AVG a decent antivirus?systemworks

All of my computer nerd friends highly recommend it over Norton, McAfee or anything else. So far it's done me good. I had a few Trojans on my work computer last week. McAfee detected them but couldnt delete them. AVG both detected and delteted. So far Im happy with it.
AVG is good. But you could also try ClamWin (www.clamwin.com).
Yeah its a great anti-virus... I have used it for years and have been virutally virus free. It runs in the background and doesn't interrupt me, it updates itself.. its very non-obtrusive and very functional.

I dont think its significantly better than Norton or Symantec, but it has the advantage of being free :)
well it would be wrong to say its "much better".. though its comparable..true its much lighter on on your ram and processor... avast is another free antivirus s/w..
Every anti virus is almost the same

AVG is not a exception.

If you ask me AVAST HOME EDITION (also free) is very nice.

Any way the software PRO MAGIC PLUS is the BEST.
i only use it and it is the best. It doesn't drain memory like the other big name brands. It updates with new definitions a lot. It detects viruses pretty well. It passed by three viruses but it scanned and quarantined them.
