Which anti-virus are we talking about here? You could very well have downloaded a virus in place of an anti-virus. Here are the free and SAFE anti-viruses that can be used:
AVG Free
Avast! Home Edition
AntiVir Personal Classic
Comodo
PC Tools Free
ClamWin
ClamAV
Norton Security Scan
BitDefender 10.0 Free
Dr.Web CureIt Free
If you installed a freeware anti-virus and it's NOT one of these, then it's most probably a rogue product. Immediately uninstall it, and get AVG or Avast! from above. Install and update it and then run a full system scan. Never use more than one anti-virus as it can cause driver conflicts.

After installing an antivirus, my computer logs me off automatically after log on. How can i fix this problem?virus scan
Boot into safemode and uninstall
try logging in with the administrator account (during the login press ctrl+alt+del twice to get to older windows login prompt and type administrator for the username, probably has no password) and uninstall or go to start-%26gt;run-%26gt;type msconfig-%26gt; go to services and/or startup and disable the AV...
Lots of ways to fix it really... I am sure someone else here will be more helpful because I am just too lazy to type everything...
