Who makes the best antivirus software?

I have norton but it's set to expire. What are your thoughts on the best available? I have run some demos of other programs that seem to find things Norton doesn't. So I am looking for something really good.

Norton sucks and their customer service is rude. Norton is a system resources hog and Lord knows what else it screws up on your computer. And you're right, it can't find things. I asked a similar question and picked the following as a best answer. The answerer, not apropos of anything, had his account deleted. Nice to know Y!A is keeping this site "safe" from terrible people like this that give excellent answers. Way to go Yahooey.

Norton is not the only game in town, and the resource hogging is the main reason people switch. There are several free alternatives.
