I only have symantec antivirus, do i need anything else?

Keep a link or two handy for online free a-v scanners. Symantec doesn't get everything, so a "second opinion" comes in handy sometimes.

You should also get antispyware software. Two good free ones are Lavasoft Ad-Aware SE and SpyBot Search %26 Destroy. Keep them updated and do regular scans with them, just as with an anti-virus program.

spybot and adaware are a nice addition. so if you get excessive pop-ups, run these. and i you pc is running slow; runs these programs, update them regularly and you should really not have any problems.......

if you pc is infested extremely, use hijack this.......i recommend not to unless you're conformatable with computers(i'm not even going to attach a link, just google it, and if you know what you're doing, you will find it.)

with the symantec, make sure you set up weekly scans........it will help catch more viruses.

and when you're script runs out on norton, you can download AVG free software....its an antivirus....

Yes!!! Protection involves 3 *types* of items: firewall, antivirus, antispyware. Norton is antivirus. You need the other two.

Now, opinions: good firewall (free) is comodo.

Norton is poor antivirus. Better is (free) AVG. Remove Norton and go to free.grisoft.com

Good antispyware(s) are combination of spybot and lavasoft adaware
You should have a firewall (www.zonelabs.com; or something like that). Zone is a free zirewall that is good. You should also have one or two spyware/adware programs for protection. Spybot is good. SpywareGuard is good too. Good luck.
