There are many pay versions of AVG with many more features than the free version.

IF you have Norton currently try this test. Run Norton and get their clean bill of health then download and run AVG and prepare to be mortified at the number of Trojans running in the background that Norton that POS missed. Norton isn't worth the cost at $0.00 I have no vested interest in AVG I simply had that for a long time till I found a serious virus on my machine. Terrible product.

you can buy a premium addition, generosity of donations. it is more deeply involved in certain types of virus's that norton has a hard time removing.

They gather their free members and build a reputation. Such as Syntech has done. The one day you will see them start charging for downloads then producing market.

AVG is free to build a reputation right now. Don't know that one is better than another. But both are very effective. Either way it's better than nothing.

They sell a Pro version which has more features, etc although the free version works quite well. It is better than Norton for several reasons. The program itself is not a memory / resource hog like the Norton products. The updates for viruses are released faster / more often. The Grisoft company actually cares about people!!
