What's the best antivirus/spam for Windows VISTA?

I would update the Windows Defender and Windows Firewall for those threats. Then I would download the FREE AGV anti-virus from http://www.download.com

You see, your BRAIN is the best defense. Don't just open any e-mail attachment. Don't just go to any website. BE SMART about how you Surf and read e-mail.

Good luck and Happy Computing!

Personally, in my opinion Norton Security is really reliable.

Both Norton and McAfee work fine, and they're idiot-proof (Norton berates you if you try to open a suspicious email attachment). The problem with both of them is that they're resource hogs, which causes many people to shut them off. But if you have Vista, the expectation is that you have a powerful computer (or at least let's hope you do, or else Vista is going to beat it senseless), so it won't hurt to leave your Antivirus software on all the time.

I would suggest Norton and a couple additional free programs: Spybot Search %26 Destroy and the free version of Lavasoft Ad-Aware. And it doesn't hurt to use Firefox with adblock and a good spam filter for your email (if your email provider doesn't already use one).
