Some of the more highly rated ones are AVG, Avast!, and Kaspersky.
avg,norton anti virus and nod32
My personal preference is for Zone Alarm Suite, which provides a firewall, anti virus protection and email protection (checks incoming and outgoing mail) But even in front of that I use MailWasher (www.firetrust.com) which enables me to check all mail while it is still on the server - I can blacklist and bounce all spam and anything that looks dodgy, and when the process mail button is clicked mail that I accept (i.e is put on the Friends list) is sent to Outlok Express which is opened automatically by MaiWasher. You get a free trial with both of these programs. Hope this helps.
There is not one solution. Each year someone holds the crown. Its what you do that best protects your PC.
