Well, if u r updating it. Then u can say it is reliable but then again there r far better anti virus than AVG, but remember don't go for Norton. It makes ur comp a hell slower.

AVG is quite good. They provide frequent updates. But most experts would recommend using more than one antivirus because different brands detect different viruses.
Also, try the AVG antispyware.. free to download too.
I had nothing but problems when I used AVG. For an antivirus solution it sure missed a lot of viruses.
It did constantly update itself, ran scheduled and on demand virus scans but ... when it came down to actually finding and stopping a virus all it did was ignore it.
Maybe they have improved it, but I myself would never use the program. For antivirus I use PC Cillin from Trend Micro, I like the program for its ease of use and the way it actually does stop a virus when it detects one.
The free version of AVG is quite a good one and is one of the most downloaded anti virus programme.
