McAfee is the Best, Unlike Norton it doesn't use alot of your system resourses to run and is compatible with everything unlike Norton. McAfee also does a much better job of finding and removing the viruses that are on your pc and preventing other for getting on your PC.

Norton is useless and keep things like your camera, printer, Ipod and other items from working or being able to download.

for me I run norton's 2006 anti-virus - nofirewall

and then spyware doctor between the two it will take care of anything the net has to throw at it
Use Avg anti-virus free edition. Current version is 7.1.394.

It is a free anti-virus software, light on PC resources unlike Norton or Mcafee.

Also daily updates are available which are downloaded automatically as soon as you connect to the net.
I have ATT yahoo anti virus with my dsl but you can also get avg anti virus for free.
