Well, anything but Norton Antivirus. I don't work for their rivals, but I have to say that every computer I've worked on with Norton installed, and everyone I know who has it, it has not been useful and just been a complete pain in the neck!! Don't get Norton, there are far too many features you will never use, and it's too much effort to allow programs through firewalls and allow executables through virus scans and.....
I find it best to use a combination of little, cheap, snappy tools. Try Ad-aware (*1), from Lavasoft, and Spybot Search %26 Destroy (*2) and AVG from Grisoft (*3).
I haven't tried it, but Microsoft's upcoming package (*4) might also be worth a look. Not that their appalling Security Center is anything to go by.
Links are in the same order mentioned here, signified by (*1) eg link 1.
Which is the best antivirus software untill now ?software
All of the big guys, such as Norton, McAfee, etc will basically get you covered, but they aren't cheap.
There are some free antivirus programs out there from Avast and AVG
http://www.avast.com
http://www.grisoft.com
I prefer Avast.
Also, don't forget to have protection against spyware and adware. Microsoft has a free program at www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spywar...
or get Ad-aware from Lavasoft for free at http://www.lavasoft.com
