What is the best antivirus to use on a desktop computer?malware

Well if you want the best, you'll need a paid one.

The best overall including free ones is McAfee

2nd is ZoneAlarm, 3rd Kaspersky

Free

AVG

Avast

Just don't use any Symantec products including Norton 360

What is the best antivirus to use on a desktop computer?norton 360

Google offers a very nice free software package that includes Norton AntiVirus. I have used this package with good success. It also comes with a free spyware scanner and lots of other free goodies. And you can trust it because it doesn't come from some no-name company. You can get it here:

Good luck!
avast antivirus is FREE and after using testing and examining the lot of them, it requires least resources and gives best service, it is free to home users only.... cheers oh and zone alarm 7 free is also a fine program... I have tested a lot of programs since 1968 and tell you what these are top grade user friendly and free.... also add in superantispyware it is also free and works excelent%26gt; Cheers
I think you will find the following link useful.
Definitely avast. I removed all of norton's files from my registry and installed avast. No complaints, great protection, does not take up so much cpu, and the best part...it's free for non-commercial use! You register and receive via email a registration key good for 14 months. After the 14 months you do the registration process again and renew for another 14 months.
