Norton system works by a mile worth the money even though it slows down the booting of the computer but does not effect the computer when its finished loading

Agree with Super Fly. Also Kaspersky is a good one.
I've had both, and had differant views on each.

Norton, didn't seem to play nice with XP Pro. Mcafee, seemed to do the job.

Now that I've got a new puter, with Vista, it has Norton and seems to be working fine.

I did have problems with some areas of Mcafee with XP, but when I disabled them it seemed to work better, I don't recall exactally what the problems were, it's been a couple years.
hi i had norton on my pc first ona free trial and it was ok but it messed my pc wen i took it of so then i got mcafee and it was absolutally rubbish most pictures even on ebay was rubbish they wouldnt show they just had mcaffe logo i now have a program called panda 2007 internet security and it is mint it is 25 pound and tht is for 3 computer

Neither Avg' Spybot, Adaware these don't slow your system down.
if i had to pick one out of those id choose mcafee norton is just crap get avast or avg
I would use neither, I use AVG Free
From what I have been told Norton is like a virus you will never completely get it out of your computer once it has been loaded and you can't use other anti-virus or spyware with it. I haven't heard a good thing about it. If you go on the EBAY boards and ask about anti-virus and spyware they will send you in the right direction and they are free.
dont get norton
I would suggest Mcafee.
Neither they are both intrusive and not as effective as NOD32 (pay subscription) and AVG Antivirus (free subscription).
