Ditto to jd. Running more than one Anti Virus on your computer sends conflicting and duplicate messages and actions. It can cause all kinds of havoc and even make your entire PC crash. You only need one and make sure to update it's definitions regularly. But run as many anti spyware/adware programs as you like.

1) They're trying to do the same thing at the same time, so they conflict with each other.
2) Each one does things that the other is programmed to recognize as 'virus-like' - it's just the nature of what they do.
I advise against running more than 1 anti-VIRUS program at once - I've never seen it work.
(You can run many anti-spyware %26 -spam programs at the same time, though).
