When my norton antivirus expires do i have to renew, can't I just reinstall it?

You can't renew it, or reinstall it, but if you buy the new version of Norton it'll replace the old one so don't need to uninstall it. I don't recommend getting Norton. First: I experience lots of trouble this is my 4th year using it, it worked fine after a while but later it stops working, it fails, I'm using Norton Internet Security, and it failed like in a month, and can't return it for a refund. Second: is that Norton slows down your computer by a lot. Norton is like a scam, it costs like 50 dollars and works for 365 days and it'll just fail on you in few days. I update my Norton daily or whenever it tells me to and Norton remains (X) and I can't even download a update because it doesn't let me and it says Norton is corrupted and my other computer works fine.

When an anti-virus subscription expires, it will no longer update with new virus signature definations.

The "black-hats" are creating new viruses and other malware each and every hour every day 24 / 7. Without updates to detect these new malwares, a un-updatable anti-virus soon becomes worthless.

If you are looking for a good, free anti-virus, I would suggest Avira AntiVir庐 PersonalEdition Classic. It has excellent heuristics, a virus detection rate that is better than most "paid-for" anti-virus programs and is light on using your computer's resources. Uses less then 10 MB RAM on my machine. And did I mention that it's free!

Just remember that you must un-install your Norton (even if it is expired) before you install ANY other anti-virus program.

Good luck.
