Norton anti virus 2007 seems to screw up a lot. Live update doesn't work properly. I have to keep reinstalling to make it work which is a pain. I recently got a virus that screwed up my computer and I'm thinking is it even worth buying Norton Anti virus or is it just as good to get Ad aware SE off the internet for free. Is Ad aware SE just as effective as Norton Anti virus?

Ad aware SE is not for virus protection, it will protect you against spyware/adware.
You can use AVG it's free to use and download. Just make sure you uninstall norton using their online tool.

AdAware SE is not an antivirus software. It is a spyware/adware detector that you manually run every so often. It works really well, though, and it's free. Can't beat that.
AVG Free is an antivirus software. It does not create a constant barrier, but it scans at a time you choose and heals or quarantines viruses.
I have both of these and have never had a problem. Also, there's a great recent online article at http://tech.msn.com/downloads/articlepcw... that has PC World readers' most favorite software for just about anything.
