i have downloaded the AVG free version through internet on my laptop hp pavillion.....i dont want to take daily updates ...is it possible to protect my notebook without daily updates of AVG.................how long this protection will last...........

I have it also and i only update it every 7 - 10 days and i've never had any problems with it. It only takes a minute or two to update so it's not a big deal.

how bad do you want a virus in you pc? if you don't keep your definitions up to date it won't be long before you asking another question in here "how do i get rid of this virus" New Virus are coming out daily, so solution to these virus's are coming out daily. When your asking the next question don't forget to mention that you couldn't be bothered to keep your definitions up to date, and then someone might say to sad to bad. It don't take long to do so make it a part of you log off or log on. I scan my pc for antispware evertime i log off and delete browsing history, house keeping is important to a pc.It is only as good as the operator.
You can last a while without the updater, the updater mostly just updates drivers and fixes bugs so you'll be find if every month you download all the updates.
you can get protection for old viruses. THere are daily updates because there are always new viruses. If you don't update, you will not be protected from new threats.
