I bought norton and installed it 12 months ago, now it is telling me that it has expired and I have to buy it again.,.I thought that once you have paid for it that you didnt have to pay again?

Well. You probably bought a old Norton anti virus Kit. Not that good i would advise you to get A Apple computer. It barely has any viruses for it. And another pretty good anti virus protection is AVAST try it.

You paid a 12 month subscription, once it expires, like a newspaper subscription, you stop getting deliveries. So your norton requires you to re-subscribe. It's up to you if you'd like to go on with it or consider something new.

MS Protection suit is not bad, I am not a fan of defender because it's a little too out of control with security but the firewall and any good virus scanner I think is all you really need.
If you paid for a serial, then call the customer service up, and ask them about it.

But I actually prefer Spyware Doctor, its really good. Look it up.

you bought a 1 year subscription. You don't have to buy the program itself again, you just need to renew the subscritpion so you get the updates. Without the updates the program is useless.

There are a bunch of free virus protections programs out there that work just as well. Avast is one of the better ones at www.avast.com. Just avoid AVG. Its one of the worst rated.
Sometimes your internet service provider offers security that you can download for free. I use Norton provided by ATT. E-mail me if you use ATT as your provider or look for the download software link on your Yahoo home page.
